General Information:
Research in Aquatic Chemistry: Our laboratory investigates two complementary
topics. The first is the origin, properties and complexation chemistry of
aquatic humic substances in freshwater and brackish water environments.
The second is the emission, distribution, and ecochemistry of organic
pollutants in the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay watersheds. Of
current interest is the fate of pharmaceutical chemicals entering rivers and
streams through wastewater discharge and their impacts in aquatic ecosystems.
